Cuba, MO "Route 66 Mural City"...
Where art meets history
Housing
The cost of housing in Cuba is among the most affordable in the nation. New subdivisions and apartment building construction continues to meet the demand generated by the expanding Cuba industrial base.
Local Businesses
The three local Cuba banks have combined assets of nearly $400 million. Media in Cuba include a weekly newspaper, cable television, area radio stations and access to daily delivery of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and the Wall Street Journal.
Health Services
Cuba residents are served by three clinics that are staffed by three physicians and one osteopath. Together with two dentists, one optometrist and two chiropractors, they provide a wide range of medical care. The area hospital is 16 minutes away.
The Viva Cuba Organization
The Viva Cuba Beautification Organization formed in 1985 to complement the industrial development effort in Cuba.
The Viva Cuba organization had the first Missouri Adopt-a-Highway site.In 2001, the group and Peoples Bank commissioned the first outodoor mural in Cuba. The organization then adopted the project of 12 outdoor murals along the Rt. 66 corridor by 2007, Cuba's sesquicentennil. The group also re-landscaped the Viva Cuba Garden, built a brick wall, and commissioned an 1873 train replica.

As a result of Viva Cuba's mural project, Cuba has become a tourist destination with both domestic and international visitors. The community and businesses have embraced the idea of art in Cuba and commissioned their own interior and exterior murals.
In 2002, the Missouri Senate designated Cuba "The Rt. 66 Mural City."
Viva Cuba continues city-wide beautification, planting, and promotion of the murals and other Cuba attractions.
